Every day, I browse out to capture the highlights and take-aways of some of our BYC yogis.
On day 1, I talked to Charlotte Larrazabal, yoga teacher and illustrator.
Charlotte, how was your first day here at BYC?
Oh it was great! I had such a fantastic day!
Can you share something beautiful and something that was challenging for you today?
The class with David Lurey was beautiful! I especially loved the topic: evolution. From formlessness to getting to be humans – and how we explored that through yoga and asana. That was great! I also loved how we talked about the three questions we all have [Who am I? Why am I here? Where am I going?] and how we have to be 100% entirely honest to be able to get an and when you do that, you get the answer – with no words. Life will give you the answer in a different form. I liked that a lot!
Challenging was the part where David asked us to “not think” about forms – but my mind kept imagining a lizard, a tree,… you know? You start laughing about how self-concious we are. We think of ourselves as these really spiritual beings – but then we get these simple reminders of how human we are. That was really interesting to see. No matter how long we practice, we maintain students…
Sounds beautiful! And what will you take with you from today?
Ooooh! [giggles] This morning I was helping a woman, I translated for her, and then we ate together and found out we had so much in common and really get along well! So I feel I will take a new friend with me! It felt really serendipitous, she answered so many questions I had two days go – and today I am helping this person and then she gave me so many answers – and I was flipping out! Life, the universe – it’s so beautiful!
Thank you so much, Charlotte! Sounds like you had the perfect start into the BYC. I wish you a great festival!
