Kirtan in Sanskrit means “praise, eulogy” and is a call-and-response chanting performed in India’s bhakti devotional traditions. Kirtan practice involves chanting hymns or mantras with instruments such as the harmonium, tablas, the two-headed mrdanga or pakawaj drum, and karatal hand cymbals.
‘The powerful healing and transformational energies of these ancient chants can help to reconnect us to the Ever-Present and Eternal Being that lies within us all. All the mantras, melodies, and instruments of kirtan are designed to lead us toward this meditative state.’ from www.RaganiWorld.com
Kirtan is a way to express the loving devotion to God, to open and heal our hearts.
In Barcelona Yoga Conference we will share many kirtan moments. There will be daily kirtans open to everyone from artists like David Lurey, Danny Paradise & Marcus Felsner, Spring Groove, Carme Nalini, The Love Keys and of course the main concert with Krishna Das 6th of July! Closing with a sample of what we’re going to experience in BYC…
and a quote from Krishna Das…
“Chanting is a way of getting in touch with yourself. It’s an opening of the heart and letting go of the mind and thoughts. It deepens the channel of grace, and it’s a way of being present in the moment.”
Om shanti shanti shanti and love to all!
