The AcroYoga Experience

Describing an amazing practice like AcroYoga, I couldn’t find better words than the ones that the founders Jenny Sauer Klein & Jason Nemer wrote:

“AcroYoga blends the spiritual wisdom of yoga, the loving kindness of Thai massage, and the dynamic power of Acrobatics. These three ancient lineages form this practice that cultivates trust, connection and playfulness. There are 7 main elements that make up the practice: circle ceremony, asana, partner flow, Thai massage, therapeutic flying, inversions & spotting, and partner acrobatics. Our highest aim is to bring individuals into a state of union with themselves, with each other, and with the divine. From this place of mutual support the true self can be realized, celebrated and shared for the benefit of all.”

Learning Acro Yoga, you learn to base, to fly, to spot… 3 qualities that we also have in life. Each one of us is identified with one of them, some of us with more.  Through this practise, you learn how to evolve in all of them and how easy we can apply them to life! But not just that… You learn to be present every moment, to breathe deep, to be confident, to trust, to serve, to support, to communicate, to synchronise, to connect, to feel, to flow, to play…

One little story…

“On December 19, 2003 Jenny & Jason met through a common friend in San Francisco, after having heard much about each other for months. After the party Jenny flew Jason in a Contact Yoga (therapeutic flying) sequence, and then Jason held Jenny in a handstand on his hands. This first play session sparked the fire that is now AcroYoga! Inspired by their complimentary backgrounds, and the immediate ease and joy with which they collaborated, they stayed up until 5am dreaming about a partner practice built on their collective experiences. They laid the foundation upon which AcroYoga is built in that night..”

“For the first year or so they called this new practice ContactAcro, and it was a great playground for discovering, experimenting and playing. In April of 2005 the name was changed to AcroYoga and in August of 2006 the first teachers were trained in this art. Currently there are 120 Certified AcroYoga teachers worldwide and this practice continues to be defined by the teachers who share it and the community that keeps it evolving.”

Jason and Jenny will teach several classes at the main Barcelona Yoga Conference and a full day at the Post Conference.
